L'Oreal's Changing Approach to Aging
L’Oreal is gearing their focus towards longevity science with an intention to extend skin “healthspan.” The company believes the industry is going through a “longevity revolution” which is changing the way we age. People are now beginning to focus on the difference between actual age and biological age. Because of this, L’Oreal has been focusing on designing interventions to extend skin healthspan.
Skin Exposome
One area of focus for the company is the skin exposome. Skin exposome is the total sum of environmental and lifestyle factors including UV radiation, pollution, smoking, diet, and stress. L’Oreal aims to analyze what these factors are doing in the skin regarding both visible and invisible signs.
Personalization
In January 2025, the company launched Cell Bioprint. This is the first aging clock that can tell the user what is happening below their skin. This further reveals which active ingredients will be most effective for a person’s longevity pathway.
To further analyze the skin, L’Oreal designed an AI longevity cloud which allows them to go through the longevity wheel to connect a variety of biological pathways together.
